Lafayette’s Geology Department has collected a large number of 35mm slides over the years. Some are from commercial slide sets purchased for classroom use, but a majority of the images were created by faculty members to support their own research. The thousands of images that make up this collection can be thought of as a visual repository that illustrates many geologic features and processes. While our first digital sub-collection is comprised of copyrighted material and is only available to the Lafayette community, we plan to build future sub-collections based on the photographs created by our faculty. It is our intent, where possible, to make these future sub-collections available to the public, in addition to the Lafayette community.
