The Lafayette College Libraries Department of Digital Scholarship Services (DSS) invites proposals from faculty with needs ranging from preliminary consultation on project scoping to execution of ambitious collaborative digital projects. All full-time and contingent faculty are eligible. DSS specializes in collaboration in areas of the humanities and humanistic social sciences, but faculty in all disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Examples of projects that we support:
Goals of the proposal may include developing digital scholarship curricula, collaborating on a faculty-EXCEL researcher project, developing a strategy for research data management, or creating digital resources as part of a book project.
Tiers of support
Tier 1. Maximum duration: six months from start of project. DSS staff consults with the faculty member on project scoping. The faculty member and DSS staff partner to determine what steps are necessary to launch the project and what resources on campus might be coordinated to actualize the project.
Tier 2. Maximum duration: one calendar year from start of project. With project scoping and partners in place, the faculty member and DSS staff partner to launch a new digital project. Following the launch of the project, the faculty member is the primary party responsible for the project, although DSS may make commitments to maintain the infrastructure of the project. The specifics of the collaboration will be negotiated as part of this tier of support.
Project extensions: faculty may apply for a second term of project support, which will be approved on a case-by-case basis and subject to discussion with DSS staff about the long-term maintenance of the project.
