Are you interested in publishing with our digital collections, proposing a digital research project, or launching a new digitization initiative?

See the right sidebar for information on Copyright & Use, the Digitization & Preservation Policy, and Memoranda of Understanding for digital projects and initiatives.  DSS takes on new projects on a rolling, discretionary basis, following a project evaluation and intake process.  DSS members publish in their fields and contribute to open-source web and repository development communities.  They offer a host of subject area specialties, ranging from historical geography to digital imaging standards to oral history methodology.  We work with partners to plan projects and initiatives according to the following milestones:

  • Project Intake and Memorandum of Understanding
  • Data Collection and Preparation
  • Project Building
  • Project Release
  • Project Maintenance
  • Project Sundowning/Archiving

Do you have an idea for a digital project? Complete the DSS Preliminary Request Form.
