Digital Scholarship Services in Lafayette College Libraries is recruiting a summer student assistant to support our work developing digital collections. Tasks:

  • Scanning special collections and college archives materials using flatbed scanners and BookEye scanner.
  • Creating item level descriptive metadata for digitized items.
  • Ingesting metadata and scans into digital publishing platforms.
  • Documenting processes, testing workflows, and assisting in drafting and editing user guides and instructions.
  • Reflective writing for the DSS blog.

Qualifications

  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to maintain attention while performing repetitive tasks.
  • Comfortable learning new software and digital tools.
  • Able to safely handle delicate physical materials and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills.
